SHORTFUSE Thursday 8th July

For this week's fusion of performance comedy, stand up poetry and music, we bring you yet another chance to catch an EDINBURGH FRINGE 2004 PREVIEW...

MATT DYKTYNSKI - POLE DANCER

Ditching Australian screen fame, Matt believes he's finally escaped his vodka-soaked liberal parents, but unfortunately there's still the phone!
Dyktynski takes us on an entertaining journey in a lively stand-up routine that encompasses bizarre tales about his formative experiences, evocative songs, maybe complementary vodka, and what can only be described as parental intervention and a son’s shame.

"A delight. Sharply observed, original and funny. An engaging and infectious
sense of humour"
FringeReport

"Slick, professional and, importantly, gets the laughs. Took the roof off ... warmed the audience to boiling point" Chortle

"Pretty cool cat" Rolling Stone

Plus performance poetry from:

SARAH KOBRINSKY (JOINT WINNER Oof the SHORTFUSE POETRY IDOL CONTEST 2)

"Sarah Kobrinsky's poems taste better than blackened catfish on the tongue. They are well-crafted, lilting and sensual, and they incorporate the imagery and the rhythms of her heritage, of the dance floor, and of her international imagination while managing simultaneously to be earthy and gritty, like the oysters found in the sauciest Louisiana gumbo" -Al Davis, Author of Alone with the Owl

DEBORAH LAMPITT  acutely observed poetry giving a unique slant on life, love and language, performed with an honesty that cuts deep to the literary bone.

HOSTED BY:

NATHAN PENLINGTON- "An act truly worthy of praise! His section is a smooth blend of comedy, storytelling and poetry. His writing and stage presence are both enjoyable and understated" - Three Weeks
