Recognised as a key figure in 90’s stand up, alongside David Baddiel, becoming a national celebrity with The Mary Whitehouse Experience – with a hit radio and TV series, and a renowned performance at Wembley. But it is as a critically acclaimed novelist that he has found his vocation, and his two week series of performances at SHORTFUSE will contain excerpts from his third novel The
Fountain at the Centre of the World.

Due to public demand and the success of the first 3 SHORTFUSE POETRY IDOL CONTESTS, from which all six winners have gone on to obtain performances across London, and two performers have had a 5 Star ***** show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we pleased to present:

Nathan Penlington


Anglo-welsh Nathan Penlington spent his early years as a temporary Bingo caller and boy magician in Rhyl, North Wales, before moving to London just after his 18th birthday. The resulting side-stepped view means he easily and skillfully shatters the myths that surround poets and poetry. Seamlessly fusing comedy, storytelling, audience participation and visual props with writing that is intelligent, accessible and entertaining into literary cabaret.
