Thursday 22nd September

SHORTFUSE returns from its summer break at the Edinburgh Fringe 2005 to start its new season of presenting London's ONLY weekly fusion of stand-up poetry, spokenword and music. And for the first show of the season we are pleased to present three of our favourite acts who are guaranteed to kick things off in style...

Jesus Licks - Once again we are pleased to welcome the world's first truly feral band, a mix of grassy sounds and beautiful melodies, a pop sensibility teamed with dark chords and black comedic lyrics. Dark raw sugarcane music. (click here to see Jesus Licks competing for the most-people-at-once-on-the-shortfuse-stage award)

Karen Hayley

Previous performances have included: "ATTACK OF THE FIFTY FOOT SNOW WHITE"; "HAMMER HORROR STRIPTEASE", a striptease to a soundtrack of screams and horror music; and "SOMETHING IN THE WAY HE WAS ARRESTED UNDER THE 1989 PREVENTION OF TERRORISM ACT", sung in a balaclava, at all kinds of venues from The Paradiso, Amsterdam, to The ICA and The Torture Garden in London...the kind of  spokenword your mother said you should keep away from...

Heather Taylor

Previewing excerpts from her forthcoming full length collection 'Horizon & Back' (Tall Lighthouse) - poetry with a sleek sensual edge that hides a razor sharp wit.
